Grass and Cloudy

- Where do you live? asked Blade, the curious grass blade. - I live above you. Did I say that out loud? replied Cloudy, the cloud. Blade was amazed that a cloud could talk. - Mr. Cloud, you are special and terribly free. Blade wished he could be as free as the cloud in the sky.

Blade discovered a problem. He felt stuck in one place, just green and boring. - You’re all over the sky, Cloudy. I’m stuck down, just green. Blade wanted to be more colorful, like Cloudy. The thought of being just one color made Blade sad.

Cloudy realized Blade felt sad. - Just green? I don’t think that’s true, said Cloudy. Cloudy told Blade that from above, the grass looked green, yellow, and blue. Blade was surprised. - Really? Maybe I’m more than just green!

Blade faced the first obstacle. He tried to see the colors Cloudy described but couldn’t. Blade felt frustrated. - I’m just in one place and boringly made, he sighed. Blade wished he could see himself as Cloudy did.

Blade tried to find more colors in the field. He asked the flowers for help, but they were too busy blooming. Blade felt even more lonely. - What are you saying, am I more than one shade? he wondered. Blade started doubting Cloudy’s words.

Cloudy faced his own doubt. - I’m just small and just white, sighed Cloudy. He worried he was too plain and forgettable. Blade tried to cheer him up. - Forget you? There’s always a new you, just wafting on by!

Blade tried another way to solve the problem. He asked the sun to shine brighter, hoping it would reveal more colors. The sun tried, but Blade still saw only green. Blade felt defeated. - Maybe I’m just plain old grass, he sighed.

Blade was ready to give up. He felt he would never see the colors Cloudy described. - I’ll never be as colorful as you, Cloudy, he said. Blade was sad, feeling stuck and unimportant. Cloudy wished he could help Blade.

Cloudy had an idea. - I can see you exactly from way above here, he said. Cloudy asked Blade to trust him. Blade listened, hopeful for a solution. - You’re all different colors from high in the sky! exclaimed Cloudy.

Blade had a breakthrough. He realized he needed to see himself from Cloudy’s view. - Oh gosh, could this really be true? gasped Blade. Blade understood he was more than he seemed. His heart filled with hope.

Blade and Cloudy worked together. - You're a million or more, my eyes can see that you cover the floor, said Cloudy. Blade felt proud. He knew he was part of something big and beautiful. - I do? That would be cool! Blade exclaimed.

Cloudy felt happier too. - I’m big and I’m varied? I do hope you’re right! said Cloudy. Blade assured him he was special. They both saw their true colors. Blade and Cloudy felt happy and proud.

Blade and Cloudy solved their problem. They learned to see their own worth. - Please be my friend and come back again, Blade said. Cloudy promised he would. They realized they could be best friends forever.

People in the nearby town noticed the change. They saw the beautiful colors in the field. They heard the joyful sounds from above. - Look at all the colors! they exclaimed. Everyone was amazed by Blade and Cloudy’s friendship.

Blade and Cloudy were proud. - We’re both so enormous and happy, said Blade. Their friendship had changed the field. - I love you! shouted Cloudy. Their voices echoed across the land.

Blade and Cloudy talked every day. They shared stories and laughter. - You’re my friend now forever, said Cloudy. Blade agreed with a happy nod. Their friendship made them feel complete.
