But the next morning, Miles felt a sharp pain in his tooth. He groaned and held his cheek. He knew he had to go to the dentist, but he was terrified.
Miles's mom made an appointment with Dr. Smile, the dentist. 'I don't want to go, Mom,' Miles protested. 'It will hurt!' His mom reassured him, but Miles's heart pounded with fear. On the way to the dentist, his trusty toothbrush whispered, ' - You can do it, Miles. Be brave.'
When they reached the dentist's office, Miles saw the big, scary dental chair. ' - I can't sit there,' Miles said, trembling. Dr. Smile came in with a friendly smile. ' - Hello, Miles! Ready for an adventure?' But Miles's legs felt like jelly. ' - No, I want to go home,' he replied.
Miles sat down in the chair reluctantly. Dr. Smile showed him the dental tools, but they looked like scary instruments to Miles. ' - I can't do this,' Miles thought, tears welling up in his eyes. ' - What if it hurts?' he whispered to his toothbrush. He wanted to run away.
Just when Miles was about to give up, his toothbrush said, ' - Remember, you're brave, Miles. Courage isn't about not being scared; it's about doing what you need to do even when you are scared.' Miles took a deep breath. ' - Okay, let's do this,' he said to Dr. Smile.
With a newfound sense of courage, Miles opened his mouth wide. Dr. Smile gently cleaned his teeth and fixed the problem. ' - See, that wasn't so bad, was it?' Dr. Smile asked. Miles grinned. ' - It wasn't bad at all!' he said. Miles left the office feeling proud and brave.
