It's Okay to Be You!

Tolerance Watercolor style

Join Itto the Otter on a heartfelt journey by the river as he learns to embrace his own unique talents while overcoming challenges and discovering the beauty in being himself.

Itto the Otter sat by the big, blue river, watching Bird flying high in the sky. "I wish I could fly too," Itto said, imagining how fun it would be. Itto tried flapping his paws as hard as he could, but he couldn’t fly. "Why can’t I be like Bird?" Itto wondered, feeling a bit sad. Itto’s curiosity and kind heart made him want to fit in with his friends. But Itto also felt like he was missing out on something special.

Itto decided to try swimming faster, hoping it would be just as exciting as flying. "Maybe if I swim fast enough, I’ll feel like I’m flying," Itto thought. But no matter how fast he swam, it didn’t feel right. "It’s not the same," Itto sighed, feeling disappointed. "Why is it so hard to be like Bird?" Itto asked himself, feeling a little lost. He wanted to find a way to feel special too.

Itto then saw Fish swimming gracefully underwater. "Maybe I should try diving deep like Fish," Itto thought. But each time he tried to dive, he ended up splashing back to the surface. "I just can’t do it," Itto said, feeling frustrated. "I’ll never be as good as Fish," he thought sadly. The more Itto tried, the more he felt different and out of place.

Feeling defeated, Itto sat on the riverbank, watching the clouds drift by. "Maybe I should just give up," Itto murmured to himself. "I’ll never be like my friends," he said, feeling downhearted. "What’s wrong with me?" Itto wondered aloud. He didn’t know what to do next. Itto felt like he would never find his special talent.

Just then, Turtle came by, noticing Itto’s sadness. "Why the long face, Itto?" Turtle asked kindly. "I can’t swim like Fish or fly like Bird," Itto replied. "But you have your own special skills," Turtle said wisely. "Let me show you how to enjoy being you," Turtle continued, leading Itto back to the water. Itto felt a spark of hope as he followed Turtle.

Turtle taught Itto how to enjoy swirling and splashing in the river, just like otters do best. "This is fun!" Itto exclaimed, feeling joy bubbling inside him. "I don’t need to fly, I love being me!" Itto shouted happily. His friends cheered as they played together, celebrating their unique talents. Itto realized that being himself was the greatest gift of all. "Thank you, Turtle," Itto said, full of gratitude.
