Little Fox’s Big Race

Wisdom Watercolor style

Little Fox faces a crisis of confidence as he prepares for the Big Forest Race. Despite obstacles and self-doubt, he learns the power of positive self-talk through the help of his forest friends.

Little Fox was excited for the Big Forest Race. But he felt nervous. "I want to finish the race, but what if I'm too slow?" he wondered aloud. His heart raced faster than his paws ever could. Little Fox's problem was his lack of confidence. If he couldn't believe in himself, how could he finish the race?

On the first day of practice, Little Fox stumbled over a tree root. "Oh no, I'm not good enough," he sighed. His friend Squirrel watched and said, "Don't worry, you just need believe you ARE good enough! Keep practicing!” But Little Fox kept thinking he couldn't do it. His paws felt heavy and his heart, even heavier.

The next day, it rained, making the path slippery. Little Fox slipped and fell. "This is too hard for me!" he cried. Raccoon, who was passing by, said, "You can do hard things! You just need to keep trying!" But Little Fox's heart wasn't in it anymore. He felt like he would never be able to finish the race.

Little Fox sat under a tall oak tree, ready to give up. "Maybe I'm just not meant to race," he thought sadly. His tail drooped as he watched the leaves dance in the wind. He felt small and unsure of himself. "I just can't do it," he said, feeling tears in his eyes.

Just then, Wise Old Owl flew down from the tree. "Little Fox, why are you so sad?" Owl asked. “I can't win the race," Little Fox replied. “Believe in yourself," Owl advised. "Tell yourself over and over, 'I am fast, I am strong,' until you start to believe it! Your body is listening!" Little Fox decided to try Owl's advice.

All day every day, Little Fox repeated to himself, “I am fast, I am strong, I can do hard things!” On the day of the race, Little Fox’s paws felt lighter. He ran with all his might, his heart full of hope. Little Fox crossed the finish line with a big smile. "I did it!" he cheered, feeling proud of himself for not giving up. His forest friends cheered, “We knew you could do it!” Little Fox had learned how powerful words can be and decided from that day on he would only speak positive words to himself and others.
