Feeling defeated, I sat on the porch steps. " - I can't do this," I sighed, resting my head in my hands. Maia nuzzled my knee, her eyes full of encouragement. " - Don't give up," her gaze seemed to say. But I felt small and powerless against the unseen threat. The idea of giving up crossed my mind.
Just then, a wise old cat named Feline walked by. " - Look closely, use your ears," she purred calmly. It was as if a light bulb went on in my mind. " - I need to listen more carefully!" I realized. With renewed energy, I got up and followed Maia more attentively. The breakthrough moment had arrived.
Listening closely, I heard tiny scurrying sounds. " - There it is!" I whispered to Maia. With courage, Maia leaped towards the noise, and I followed with a stick in hand.
