Then, she heard a strange noise and stopped in her tracks. - Is that you, Pico? she called hopefully. But it was just an owl hooting in the distance. Maria felt tears welling up as she realized how hard this was going to be.
Maria sat down, feeling defeated. She missed Pico terribly and began to think she might never find him. - Maybe I should just go home, she whispered, hugging her knees. But deep down, she didn’t want to give up. Suddenly, she remembered something her grandmother once told her: - Courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.
