Mr. Squirrel Goes Nuts

Mr. Squirrel was thrilled to see the new trees in his yard. He found one perfect for his winter stash. He busily collected sunflower seeds and acorns. But then, he spotted a bowl of peanuts on a deck nearby. "I must have those peanuts!" he thought.
Mr. Squirrel worried about leaving his stash unguarded. "What if another squirrel takes my food?" he wondered. But the peanuts were too tempting. He decided to take the risk. With his cheeks full, he began his journey back.
Suddenly, Rocket the cat appeared! Mr. Squirrel ran up a tree to hide. "I can't let Rocket find me!" he whispered. He watched as Rocket prowled the yard. "I hope he goes away soon," he thought nervously.
Mr. Squirrel stayed hidden in the tree, feeling anxious. "I have to get back to my stash," he thought. But Rocket sat under the tree, waiting. Mr. Squirrel felt stuck. "What can I do now?" he sighed.
Finally, Rocket went inside with Annalise. Mr. Squirrel scurried back to his stash spot. But when he arrived, his food was gone! "Oh no!" he cried. "All my hard work!"
Mr. Squirrel felt upset and looked around. He saw Mrs. Chipmunk nearby. "I know you took my nuts!" he accused. Mrs. Chipmunk looked hurt. "I didn't take anything," she replied softly.
Feeling defeated, Mr. Squirrel wanted to give up. "I can't find my food anywhere," he said sadly. He slumped against the tree. "Maybe I should just stop trying," he thought. He felt very alone.
Just then, Annalise returned to the yard. She carried a special container. "Mr. Squirrel, look!" she called. Inside were all his nuts! "I found these and kept them safe for you," she smiled.
Mr. Squirrel felt guilty for blaming Mrs. Chipmunk. "I'm sorry," he said. "I shouldn't have accused you."
Mrs. Chipmunk forgave him with a smile. "We all make mistakes," she said. Together, they shared the snacks from Annalise. "I'm glad we're friends," Mr. Squirrel said happily. And they both enjoyed a lovely afternoon.
