The puppies moved on, but the maze seemed to get darker. An owl hooted from above, making them jump. - Who's there? asked Lainey. The owl flew down and perched on a pumpkin. - Don't be scared, it said. Follow the moonlight to find your way.
As they followed the moonlight, they heard a meow. A black cat appeared, its eyes glowing. - Are you lost? the cat asked. Gabe and Lainey nodded. - Follow me, said the cat. But the path was narrow and filled with spooky pumpkins. Gabe began to doubt. - Maybe we should just stay here, he said.
Just then, Lainey spotted a shiny object. - Look, Gabe! It's your blue collar! she said. Gabe's courage returned. - If we follow the path, we'll find our way home, he said. The puppies decided to trust the cat and kept moving forward.
Finally, they saw a light at the end of the maze. They ran towards it and found themselves back at the pumpkin patch. - We did it! cheered Lainey. - Yes, we were brave, said Gabe. The puppies learned that with courage, they could overcome any obstacle.
