Big Bill loved spending his summer days at the swimming pool with his best friend, Jae. But this summer was different; the town hadn't seen a drop of rain for weeks, and everyone was worried. Streams dried up, and the air was thick with heat. 'What if a fire starts?' Bill's mom asked, her face etched with concern. Little did they know, a lightning burst would soon ignite a fire near town.
The fire started a mile from town, sending thick smoke into the air. Everyone gathered at the swimming pool, the only place with water left. 'What can we do?' Jae asked, his voice trembling. Bill looked around, seeing the fear in everyone's eyes. He knew they needed a plan, but what could he do? The fire was getting closer.
Bill thought hard, but every idea seemed impossible. The fire was spreading fast, and the pool's water was barely enough. 'Maybe we should just wait for the firemen,' someone suggested. Bill shook his head; they couldn't wait. 'We need more water,' he muttered. But where would they find it? The situation seemed hopeless.
- Let's give up, Bill. It's too much for us,' Jae said, his eyes filled with tears. Bill felt a lump in his throat. He didn't want to give up, but the fire was so big. 'Maybe you're right,' Bill sighed, feeling defeated. The heat from the fire was getting unbearable, and the smoke was making it hard to breathe.
Just then, Bill remembered his belly flop dive, the one that always made a huge splash. 'What if I do my belly flop?' Bill suggested. Jae's eyes widened. 'That's crazy, Bill,' he said, but Bill was determined. 'It's our only chance,' Bill insisted. They needed to create a big enough splash to put out the fire.
Bill climbed to the top of the diving board, his heart pounding. 'Show-stopper! Show-stopper!' the kids chanted. Bill took a deep breath and jumped, soaring high into the sky. He spread his arms wide, and with a mighty splash, the water shot up and doused the fire. The townspeople cheered as the flames disappeared. Bill and Jae climbed out of the pool, heroes at last.
